Over the counter, on Hoe Street
How it
Four steps, all of them in the shop, and one honest caveat about rates.
Step two
Reserve, if you like
For larger amounts or unusual denominations, reserve so we can have it ready. Optional.
Step three
Come in with ID
Bring photo identification. We are required to ask for it in certain circumstances — see our identification page.
Step four
Pay at the counter
You see the exact figures before anything is exchanged, and you pay in branch.
The honest bit about rates
The rate on this website is indicative. It comes from our own sources on a schedule, and it is a guide to what we are quoting — not a locked-in quotation. The rate that applies is the one at the counter when you transact.
We would rather say that plainly than let anyone travel across London expecting a figure to the penny. If the rate matters that much to you, reserve and we will talk it through.
Why we sometimes show nothing
We cross-check every rate against more than one independent source before publishing it. If those sources disagree beyond our tolerance, we publish nothing for that currency rather than guess. An empty cell on the board is deliberate, and it means "ask us" rather than "we do not do this currency".
What we do not do
Every exchange takes place in person at our counter on Hoe Street. This website shows our rates, takes currency reservations and takes shop orders — it never handles your money. No payment is taken online: shop orders are paid in cash on collection or on delivery. We are a branch-based exchange: cash over the counter, in person.
